What is beta reading?

A beta read will be a less extensive critique of your manuscript than a developmental edit. It is intended to show an author how a reader might react to the novel and not to be a massive overhaul. Beta reads are still an incredibly valuable way of learning where your novel is succeeding and where it still needs work. A good beta reader can be very hard to find!

Hiring a beta reader is an important decision. I will offer a sample beta read for the first 10 pages of your full-length novel or the first 5 pages of your novella for free.
What is included in the service?

In-text comments: I will make notes on your manuscript as I read. These will be valuable first reactions but they will not be lengthy and they will be based on my first read.

My notes: At the end of your novel I will leave my thoughts. This will focus on what's working aobut your novel an what needs to be improved. These notes will be informal and may be brief.

Answers to your questions: You may have specific questions about your novel. I will answer up to eight questions. These might be about thing like character arc or setting, or they may be about a specific chapter or scene.

DM chat: After I finish your novel's beta and deliver it back to you, we will have have a discussion via DM about any questions you may have. All major platforms available.
